O. J. Simpson murder case was a highly publicized U.S. criminal trial (Rufo v. Simpson, 86 Cal. App. 4th 573) in which former American football star and actor O. J. Simpson was charged with the murder of one of his ex-wives and her friend, Ronald Goldman. Simpson was acquitted after the lengthy man criminal trial, but was later found liable for Goldman's wrongful death in civil court.
