Wroxton

Wroxton is a village in the Cherwell district of Oxfordshire.

Wroxton is situated about five miles west of Banbury on the A422 road between Banbury and Stratford-upon-Avon. The population of the village is about 300. There are two public houses, both of which serve food, and a hotel providing meals and accommodation.

Education in Wroxton is provided by Wroxton C. of E. Primary School.

There was once a small open-cast iron mine near the village which was open from 1900 and closed in 1967. The iron mine was heavily used in the Second World War.

Wroxton Abbey

Wroxton Abbey, a Jacobean house, is an integral part of the village.

Churches

Wroxton has a Church of England parish church, a Roman Catholic church (one of the few thatched RC churches in England) and a Methodist chapel with a village hall.
